Supersprint Exhaust System Install for BMW e36/7 Z3

When installing a new exhaust system, we highly recommend using all new gaskets, hangers, fasteners and clamps. Additionally when removing the stock system and installing the Supersprint system you will most likely need the assistance of a friend to support the exhaust system while you remove the last bolts and install the first bolts on the new system.

Before we start, below is a couple photos of the stock e36/7 Z3 exhaust system.

Remove two bolts connecting the factory muffler to the factory resonator.

Remove both rear factory rubber hangers

Slide the factory exhaust pipe hanger assembly out of the factory rubber hanger. You may need to use a flathead screwdriver to pull the rubber hanger below the metal hanger assembly. At this point the muffler is completely removed from the car and can set aside.

Remove rubber hanger.

Preassemble the Supersprint hangers onto your Supersprint muffler using the factory system as a reference. Do not completely tighten the hangers, as you will need them loose for adjustment while installing.

Replace all 3 factory rubber exhaust hangers with new BMW hangers.


Install Supersprint muffler in reverse step as removal of factory muffler. Note: leave all muffler hanger bolts loose until you have the muffler adjusted to the correct location. There should be a 1/4" clearance between the muffler tips and the skirt.
