Hamann Morgan Aero 8

The Morgan Aero 8 was the first new car for Morgan in over 60 years and during development, they turned to BMW to provide them with the drive train. Selected for the Morgan Aero 8 was BMW's highly proven and reliable 32 valve, 4.4 L V8 with Vanos. This is the same drive train that BMW used in the e39 540i and X5 SAV and fairly similar to the engine used in the e39 M5. Not long after they were released in Europe, Hamann Motorsport had a customer knocking on their door asking for them to modify it. When it came to the development of the exhaust system, Hamann turned to the proven experts at Supersprint for a custom built exhaust system. Supersprint has had a lot of history with this engine, developing some very unique headers for the 540i and M5, and has been able to squeeze out that last bit of performance from the exhaust system that others haven't been able to. During development, Supersprint quickly identified several shortcomings in the OE exhaust. This was mostly to due with Morgan trying to fit the massive V8 in while trying to retain a particular budget. Supersprint was able to greatly improve the flow characteristics and in turn was able to free up 42 HP allowing the V8 to truly shine. Below is a selection of photos taken during the development and testing processes of this unique exhaust system for the Morgan Aero 8.
